A Horse is a Horse….

A few months ago, I was asked if I would donate a gift certificate for a fundraising event. A family from Bastrop had lost their home in the fires as well as the father was undergoing treatments for cancer. Of course, I said YES!

I was contacted by Krista who won the gift certificate in the silent auction. Krista wanted a cake for her daughter who was turning 4. Her daughter Brady is very into horses.

Cookie Monster……

Ok…this post is not about Sesame Street…but about cookies! Busy time for cookies! πŸ™‚

It started with cookies for Laurie. Laurie and I went to high school together in Houston. She now lives in San Antonio. She called and asked if I could make baseball cookies for her son’s end of the season party! The team is Boston Red Sox!

Here is what I came up with:

I met Tara back in 1995. I love her AND her family! Tara’s mom Lynda asked me to make cookies for her aunt who lives here in New Braunfels. Her aunt just had knee replacement surgery! Of course, I said Heck Yeah! πŸ™‚

So, I met Monie through the nest a couple of years ago. She is such an amazing woman. I have watched her go through some extremely difficult times. She is a survivor. A STRONG woman!

Monie is a Twilight fanatic. πŸ™‚ She was hosting a party for the movie Breaking Dawn and wanted cookies as favors. These cookies were made to look like the cover of the book. πŸ™‚

Simple Cakes…

I was asked to do a simple wedding cake for a backyard wedding. Susan and Gareth are such a sweet couple! I was honored to make their cake!

The cake is Italian Cream with Cream Cheese Filling.

The girls up at the New Braunfels Elks Lodge asked me to make a cake for Debbie’s Birthday. She loves German Chocolate Cake so that is what we went with.

When Rene asked me to make a Mickey Mouse Cake for her son Carlton, I was so excited! I think it turned out pretty darn cute! πŸ™‚

Bottom tier is Strawberry Cake with Cheesecake Filling. Top tier is Vanilla Cake with Snickers Buttercream Filling. Mickey Mouse “hat” on top is made with Rice Krispy Treats.

Lots of Sweet Treats…..

October was a busy sweet treats month!!!

Sheri (my amazing friend and neighbor) was making baskets for her employees at Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union. She asked me to make cake pops to put in the baskets. πŸ™‚

The Cake PopsΒ  are Chocolate, Strawberry and Vanilla!

My favorite folks at Oma Gruene’s Secret Garden called and asked if I would meet with a bride and groom. πŸ™‚ Of course I said YES! It was a last minute thing so I just made up a recipe to take some treats up there! They loved them!

I shall call them Blueberry Crumble Cake Bars!

Mark was turning 40 so Brandy asked me to make him a cake. They were heading to College Station for an aggie tailgate and game. Yes, I do have aggie friends! πŸ™‚ All of the yard lines are 40s for his birthday!

The cake is Margarita Cake with Cream Cheese Filling!

German Chocolate Cake Balls for the tailgating…..everyone’s favorite!

I had a really fun wedding cake tasting! The bride wanted to sample the following: Butter Pecan with Praline Filling, Lemon Poppyseed,Β  French Vanilla with Lemon Filling, Italian Cream and Red Velvet.

Happy Hookem Birthday Clyde Jr!

I started tailgating with Burnt Orange Fan Zone MANY years ago. We have become a very close group! One of the greatest things to come out of BOFZ is meeting the Gray Family! Sandi and Clyde have become my Hill Country parents. Jen, Dar and Kel are my sisters! πŸ™‚

Sandi is my cake HERO! She has taught me so much. When she asked me to make Clyde’s Birthday cake and cupcakes….I will admit, I was scared. I didn’t want to disappoint her!

For the cupcakes, I went with Butter Pecan, Pumpkin, Lemon and Confetti Cupcakes. Clyde’s favorite cake is Italian Cream so that is what we went with! πŸ™‚

Here is the table we surprised Clyde with! Good times!!!

Had to add a photo of “my family”!

SuEllen got married….

In January, I made a surprise birthday cake for SuEllen. Her friend (and now my friend), Angel, ordered it. Since then SuEllen has used me for numerous cakes. I love my customers! πŸ™‚

SuEllen was getting married and had her reception at Gruene River Grill (one of my favorite restaurants). She wanted something simple with flowers on top. As far as flavors, bottom tier is Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Filling. Top two tiers are White Cake with Butterfinger Buttercream Filling.

Here is what I came up with:

It’s a ……….

Ana called and asked if I would make a cake for her friend. It was for a Gender Reveal Party. Ana dropped off a sealed envelope with the baby’s gender. The only two people who knew the sex of the baby were me and the ultrasound tech! How awesome to be a part of such a special day! πŸ™‚

The Cake is Banana Cake with Cream Cheese Filling…

As you can tell….It’s a BOY!!!

A Pie INSIDE a Cake?!?!?

So, my good friend Sheri was celebrating 5 years with Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union. Sheri’s favorite dessert is Pecan Pie. The credit union wanted a cake to celebrate her anniversary!

I decided to make a Pecan Pie Cake. The cake itself was French Vanilla. Sheri was very happy!

I am blessed with good friends….

I went to high school in Houston. Through facebook, I have reconnected with some high school buddies. Stephanie is one of them! She even lives close (in San Antonio). She is an AMAZING woman! She is currently adopting 5 siblings…yes…5. They are going from zero kiddos to 5! WOW!!

Anyway…her husband was having a big birthday so she asked me to make treats.

I made Butterfinger Cake (not pretty but amazingly delicious), Individual Cheesecakes with Strawberry Topping and Carrot Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Icing.

About 2 years ago, I started getting my hair done by Rachel at The Retreat. She is soooooo good! She recently moved to The Fixx and of course, I followed her! She is an amazing stylist and even better friend! I love going to visit her.

Rachel’s son Carter wasΒ turning 8 and she wanted a simple Transformer cake. Rachel does not feed her kiddos much processed food or foods with dyes. Because of this…we went with a simple cake design. πŸ™‚

It is a Chocolate Cake with Buttercream Filling and Icing. I did a fondant transformer on top so she could remove before eating! πŸ™‚
